Yesterday was a fun day. We visited a local university and then went to a park where the Lantern Festival was celebrated. The Lantern Festival marks the last day of the Chinese New Year celebration, which has been going on since February 6th. There were fireworks going off all over town until late that night. We had a dinner together with the rest of our travel group.
Today was a "rest day". There were no tours planned. This worked out great since Tom has a cold and needed to rest for a day. He seems to be feeling better tonight and we hope, after a good night's sleep, he'll be back to his jolly self again. Alexia and I swam in the hotel pool and walked to a local store to shop.
Tomorrow morning, we fly to Guangzhou. We are so looking forward to moving on. The trip is starting to feel long now and so we're hoping a change in venue will help. We are staying on Shamian Island, which is supposed to be lovely. It should be nice and warm and I hear there are lots of parks and shops to walk through. Break out the VISA, Daddy -- baby needs a new pair of shoes!

Your photos in China will be treasures for you ... what an amazing trip! Tianna looks so cute in the pink outfit and hairbow -- all girl. Love Alexia's fun pink balloon in the Univ. photo. The change in venue to Guangzhou will probably be welcome and help to usher the time along. I know that your sights are probably set now on coming home and helping Tianna adapt to her new life in Elburn. Hoping Tom is feeling better and that no one else gets his cold!
